In my GSE History class last year, we watched this movie and the first phew minutes alone of the battle scene in the movie had me drawn with the help of the Powerful , Horrific , Disturbing scenes creating an attraction of concern and fright from me,the viewer. The quick action introduction gets straight to the point leaving the viewer no time to be prepared or ask questions.
The dull grey sky lighting creates a sombre atmosphere and the suffering of the soldiers instantly puts the viewer in an emotional state towards them.
Within the scene the men are being killed , dropping one by one like flies,
with others fighting with the determination to save themselves and others.
Whilst he sound of guns being shot , Bombs exploding drown out the injured crying for help.
I was incredibly impressed by opening of the scene and i would consider it to be one of the best battle scenes i have seen. No surprise there as the movie was directed by the infamous director Steven Spielberg himself.
